We attained our Centenary in September 2007. An exhibition was staged from 3rd to 8th September in the Sun Lounge at the Fairfield Halls, Croydon, comprising a major display of Croydon postal history, other material provided by members of the Society and memorabilia from our archives. A dinner was held on Friday 7th September, at which guests included the Mayor and Mayoress of Croydon, the Chairman of the British Philatelic Trust, the Keeper of the Royal Philatelic Collection and members of philatelic societies from Arnhem, Lagny sur Marne and Mainz.

A stamp fair, "Croypex 100", and the annual Federation of Surrey Philatelic Societies competitions, were held on Saturday 8th September. We are pleased to say that Croydon won the Mason Cup and Croydon members took the individual awards: Brian Asquith won the Aerophilatelic Shield and Alex Johnson won the Colonel Webb Memorial Trophy. Our celebrations culminated with a 52-frame display to the Royal Philatelic Society London on 27th March 2008, to which 22 members contributed.

Follow this link for some photographs of the events.

Our exchange packet is circulated to members on request. Members who have philatelic material for sale may send it to the Packet Secretary for circulation, and can purchase other members' material from the packet. Each packet contains approximately 20 books of stamps and we usually have about 20 packets in circulation at any one time.

The Society's magazine, the Katharine Street Post, edited by Bernard W. Conway, is usually published three times per year and is sent free of charge to all members. Recent articles include:

We have a library of over 200 books, available on free loan to members. We also have a collection of Croydon postal history.

Croydon Philatelic Society has established friendly contacts with stamp clubs in other countries. Since 1996 we have visited Belgium, France, Holland and Switzerland, and we hope to visit Mainz (Germany) in 2009.

Our most recent visit was to France, when three members visited L'Amicale Philatelique de Lagny sur Marne for their 40th anniversary exhibition. This was held in the town hall at Lagny sur Marne on 25 and 26 September 2004 and comprised 78 frames of material, plus a temporary post office with a special cancellation on 25 September.
